Sad goodbyes and a future of hope

Last February, after a battle with lung cancer, my dear mother-in-law, Mom, passed away.  She was kind enough to leave us a house in Pleasantville – the house that she and my husband (both only children) grew up in.  She also left us with stern instructions – we may have the house, but we may not live in it.  In a neighborhood with an increasing number of tear-downs, we knew what our plan would be: tear the house down a build another one.  It sounded so easy…

My husband and I knew that we had a long road ahead.  First and foremost, we had to take time to grieve over the loss of a wonderful mother, friend, confidante, and caretaker.  We will always miss our dear Mom, but we look forward to creating a new home we know she would love to visit and that will house the fourth generation of our family.

And this is the story of how we’re going to get there…
